In your opinions what is the best TV Tuner card. I am looking for one that has a remote control, video capture and preferably record timer to catch tv shows I miss.
Any links or info will be appciated.

Thanks for your time,

I have an AverMedia TV98 w/Remote and I've been pretty happy with it. It works just like a real TV, turn it on/off without having to fiddle with a mouse. It's been pretty good except that there are no win2k drivers out yet for the version that I have, also the capture craps out when I try to record past 320x240 resolution, but it may be my crappy computer and not the tuner card. It also came with a great software package that has a tv schedular, weekly, biweekly, every other day, whatever you want.

I've got a Hauppauge WinTV PCI and I love it. I can record movies, but dunno if there's a timer. When I was you, go with a Hauppauge Card.

I got a Hauppauge WinTV-D. I love it. I can do so much with it. and tech support is great if you ever need it. I only wish i got the WinTV Theater version because it has a radio. You can always download software for recording. Hauppauge has some on their website for everything. if anything other q's just email me.

I wouldn't go with an ATI tv tuner card. the program is quite buggy and crashes sometimes. Plus, ATI just released a very bet win2k driver and we all know how ATI is about their driver support. Plus, i think the ATI tv tuner card is really just hte Happauge card cuz it uses the same drivers.

But as far aas the quality and functions go, it's quite good. nice quality, and alot of options for capturing and recording.

The cheap Versions of WinTV dont have MPeg-2 Encoding Is thier a BIG diffrence with or without it?

wintv or wintv-digital? is it worth paying the extra few 30 or so to get the digital one?

Edit: Well amazon doesnt have it in so it has weak description, guess i'll wait to see if they have the right prices on thier listed parts... but still curious if thier about $30 diffrence

From what I here MPEG-2 is pretty impressive quality and will probably be seen alot more in the future. So I would go for a card that supports it.

Pinnacle support MPEG2.
Also, you can record any TV show in 3 different mode.
It will also calculate how many min of Show you can record on your designated HD.
