TV tuner card help

So i have an ASUS falcon 2 from an old HP build that im trying to use to convert VHS to DVD. Its plugged in and i beleive its functioning (but i have no idea how to check) and im using powerdirector 9. I hook up the VCR to the TV tuner (analog) and go over to the capture screen in powerdirector, but all i get is "snow", blakc snow, not the normal white. The movie is playing, anyone help me out please?

Are the VCR and the card connected with the coaxial (antenna-type) wire, or the RCA (three wires with multicolored ends)? You might have to set a channel on the card: 3 or 4 for coaxial, or something else for the RCA inputs.
