TV Tuner and Digital Cable

I have digital cable and would like to be able to capture shows for later viewing on my PC. I was thinking if running a coaxial cable from the video out on the cable box to my computer, but I'm not sure if the WinTV-Theater or the WinTV-PVR250 would be better for my needs.

What do you think?

Thanks.

I am not sure if either works with digital cable as they do have digital models so you might want to check into that. But if you want to watch programs that your recorded previously with pvr will use hardware encoding, while the theater will have to use software, the theater also has better XP drivers (wdm) while the pvr does not yet have certified drivers for XP, though it works ok if you give it some effort.

I use my AIW to record digital cable via composite-in from the cable tuner. Its just like any analog source, so should work with any capture card.

you plan on capping for Mpeg I/II or Divx?

if you want TRUE Digitital I think you gatt go for Win TV-D if not Win-tv regular may be fine for your needs

I'm not sure which of those three formats I want. I need to see the same picture in each of them for that, but probably one of the mpegs because I know more about that.
