Hi,
need some advice before buying. I am looking at buying the ASUS TV tuner card. I want to set up my home entertainment system to record television, and play back to television using my pc. The pc is also going to be controlling audio output (using the creative audigy 2 platinum external), playing dvd to the television.... The television is a 76cm Widescreen Quintrex F Flat screen, 16:9 100hz Progressive scan High definition input (576p / 1080i).

My question is, once I have recorded something using the tv tuner, how good will the playback quality be to the television through the graphics card?? WIll it look like it would have if I had watched it directly? What have some other people on here done with their pcs and integrating them into an entertainment system.
Also, can anyone point me to some good documentation about what is the best way to do this? i.e. do's don'ts, problems, quality.....

regards Greg

hey,

I have the asus tv tuner myself. Watching live TV, the quality is good. The quality you'll get for playback may depend on what software to use and what compression you set. I've only used Divx to compress my videos and there are some visible compression artifacts. I'm not sure what quality other compression settings would give you. You should check out

www.avsforum.com

there's a whole section there dedicated to HTPC's like what you're thinking about.
