TV Speakers work intermittenly

So, when I first turn on my TV there is no sound coming from the speakers. After a few minutes or so, the sound begins to intermittenly come from the speakers. Finally, after watching for 10-15 minutes the sound returns to normal, except for the occassional crackle.

Does anyone know what causes this and can it be fixed? I usually use the Audio Out from the back of my TV running into my receiver until the speakers are "warmed-up". BTW, the TV model is a Sony KT-57WP600.

Thanks

Because you don't always want to turn the entire system on, maybe you just want the news on in the background.

I suppose this makes sense if you are trying to do two things at once on the same system...but otherwise I don't see the point

When I set up my parents TV for them I disabled the internal speaker entirely. It's annoying to have to turn down the internal TV speakers whenever you want to listen with the home theater system.
