We've decided to ditch the old and fading 27" Mitsubishi television to go big screen w/ HDTV.

I currently know nothing about brands, prices, etc. We went to Costco earlier tonight, they had a Pioneer 65" WideScreen TV (1080i Capable) for $2700. We didn't buy anything yet, but we found a Toshiba 65" 65H81 for $2395 at some online place called Digital Video For Less (link above).

My mom says that Pioneer doesn't make that great of TV's, I thought Pioneer ment quality. Shows how much one of us knows :) I'd like to keep the price under $2500 and keep the size somewhere in between 65" to 47." My mom doesn't want a 65" TV, but my dad does, so like under $2000 and under 60" would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help or input. :D

Alright, I'm looking at Sony KP-57WS500 now. Looking @ Froogle for best prices, found it to be ~$2000.

dont buy a 65 inch tv from some online place, it would be a pain for exchanges if it has defects outta the box. Pioneer IS a quality brand, now i dont know about their tvs but they have a good reputation. find some reviews on all the models you are interested at.

Just a quick heads up, Pioneer does make very good TV's, their Elite line is probably the best RPTV you can get. (along with Mitsubishi's Diamond line). Be prepared to pay about $3500+ for these TV's though.

In your price range and likes, you should first decide exactly how much you want to spend, and what size you want to get. Prices/quality/size is all a huge factor, so decide what size and price you want, then search some information for what's the best brand at that price point.

I'm aiming for a 50 - 60" TV and want to spend less than $2500. Quality, best quality possible. I've been eying the Sony KP-57WS500 because Consumer Reports gave it the best rating in their Super Bowl TV article on their website (which you can view now @ consumerreports.com). Anyone have this TV and want to give input on it?

Here's what AVSForum readers think about the Sony KP-57WS500 and I have also seen the Toshiba 50H82 for $1,799 at Costco B&M, that's worth looking into.

Yeah, I saw those reviews. It said that the KP-57WS500 is grainy but tweakable to fix that. 50" is the lowest I want to go :(
