I just installed a tv in my girlfriends garage room area. The problem remains that their is currently no way to get channels onto the tv. They have satellite in their home. If I were to get an extra satellite box for them, could it pickup channels? The only inputs they have in the garage is electrical power outlets. Any feasible thing i could do?

Split the signal near the dish and run a new coaxial cable from that split into the garage.

would this require me going up on the roof? They already have one box in doors...is there anything i can do off of that? Im not to familiar with satellite, as I use cable in my own home.

Do they watch TV in the house at the same time you would watch TV in the garage? If not you could split the coaxial coming out of the satellite receiver and go directly into the coaxial into the TV in the garage. The two downsides are that you would have to go to the receiver to change channels and if anyone wants to watch TV in the house you will have to watch whatever channel they have on.

Sorry but I think other options might require you to get on the roof

The dish shuld have been installed with two coax runs. Run one to each tv. More than 2, and they combine the two somehow.

just buy it from the service, they will usually set it up without charge.

You can't just split the signal from the dish, you need to get a reciever.

If you buy a receiver used, MAKE SURE the previous owner paid their bill. My sister bought a second receiver from someone she knew for $75, then when she tried to activate it, Dish Network told her that the person who sold it to her ran up like $700 in PPV charges and didn't pay them, so they wouldn't activate the box until it was paid.

Luckily, she got her money back. If you buy one online, you might not be as lucky.

If you dont watch TV in the two places at once you can get a radio sended and receiver that will broadcast what the satelite box is watching to the other TV. You can also hook up a system were the remotes will actually work also. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

My question is though if I get a new sattelite box, does it need any other hookups besides power?
