Are there any good places to get TV reviews? I'm going to buy a TV and based on what I saw at Best Buy, I've got it limited to a few.

Sony 24" KV24FS100 $379
Sony 27" KV27FS100 $474
Sony 27" KV27FS200 $522
Toshiba 24" 24AF42 $360
Toshiba 27" 27AF42 $480
Panasonic 27" CT-27SX12 $480
(all BB prices)

What do you guys think of those models? Other than the size difference, they all seemed very comparable to me.

Thanks.

Here is a comparison of those models. It looks to me like the Sonys are the best. Which one would you get? The KV27FS100 or the KV27FS200? Is the KV27FS200 worth the extra cash? Are any of them worth the cash or should I just head to walmart next Friday?

Thanks.

You shouldn't rely only on what people here say. For me, I would never pay $500 for a TV, but would fork over $800 for a computer monitor.

Spend some time, talk to the Best Buy guy, find out the feature sets on all of them.

Check out hometheaterforum.com or avsforum.com

a lot of their video stuff is mostly towards projectors and big-screens, but they still might have some stuff on your TV's

also maybe epinions.com

If we are talking tubes, I would only consider a Sony. They make the best TVs, IMHO, period!!! just get the one that has the feature set you want. Make sure it has the hook ups you want too! I would perosnally get one of the 27" Sony's you menioned.

That's kind of where I'm leaning. I just have to decide if I want PIP or not.

I would not get the Panasonic. Panasonic's quality has dropped GREATLY in the last few years. I have a 1 year old Panasonic TV and I think it could die any day.

My parents have what was a very nice Panasonic TV a few years ago. When I first started looking my opinion was Panasonic was the best and Sony was over priced, but my opinion has changed.

Ok, let me backup here. I'm starting to wonder if Wega is the way to go or not. Maybe a standard 4:3 is more appropriate. For the next 6-9 months this TV will be in a bedroom and used mostly for watching those late-night hockey games. After that time period It will be moved to a living room and used to watch DVDs 1-2 times a week. And of course lots of hockey. Should I stick with the 4:3?

Thanks.

After owning 2 Wega's and 2 Toshiba's, I would say that the price difference for the Sony is not worth it. Get the 27af42, you won't be dissapointed.

Ok, so Wega probably is the way to go. It just compresses the 16:9 image to fit in the 4:3 screen. For some reason I was confused and had it the other way around.

Thanks.

WEGAs are alright i guess, though 27" is way too small. You should wait until you can afford the 36".
