Today I had to pull my tv out to plug another cable into the back. I set the tv face down on the carpet. It wasn't dropped or handled rough. It is a panasonic Tau non hdtv 32". Now when watching tv, I notice a pink/redish distorsion at the bottom of the tv. I can really tell when I see something red at the bottom, it gets turned pink.

Any idea what happened and anyway to fix it?

if your tv is fairly new it could still be under warrenty and if so they'll proubly send someone out to fix it for free

Is there a degause option somewhere?

Nope, not that I can find in the menus

you may have to do some research online and find out how to get into the Service menu for your TV.

Yeah, or maybe have the TV guy come out with a handheld degausser. Did you set it near any magnets or speakers?

Nope, Just pulled it straight out of the entertainment center. And I layed it flat on the screen. The TV is heavy as hell, like 165lbs. It took all my strength to just lay it on the ground nicely.

Only thing that happened was that it turned on while facing the ground. I lifted it up to press the power button.

wonder if static electricity may have been the culprit. Anyways, you'll definitely need to have someone take a look at it, or try and see if you can find the service menu and hope there's a deguass option.

try to turn it on and off a few times using the power/on/off button in the set, not the one in the remote control. Some company has the degauss function built into the power button. good luck! or a strong manget might work, sometimes even moving the set around might work too.

Sometimes simply leaving it off for a day then turning it on will also fix it, if it's not major atleast.

Yep, afaik most tv's have a degaus circuit that runs after being unpugged for a while (not sure exact hours). Make sure it's away from any unshielded speakers (which could be the source of the problem) and then turn it off, wait about 12hrs, turn it on, repeat every 12hrs or so. Hopefully it fades away.
