TV Question

From what I've read, there's no advantage for picture quality but flat screens have less reflections.

Is a getting a flat screen worth the extra money? ($440 vs $280 for a Toshiba).

Go flat. After watching a flat screen for so long, when I go to some ones house and watch something on a curved screen, I feel like I'm looking through a fish lens.

Does the FS Toshiba offer any other advancements (different inputs/options/etc) over the normal?

Same features as far as I can tell, but according to CR the FS is slightly better picture quality (good for antenna/cable input versus very good and excellent versus very good for S-Video input) and ease of use.

flat helps if people watch the tv from the side, since they won't see the other side of the screen too well due to the bulge in the middle. no complaints about my flat sony wega.

Flat is good. 🙂

All the TV's I've owned have been flat (Wegas), my next TV iwll be a 16:9 HDTV.

When I get to PA I'll be buying a new TV.

How long will you keep the TV? If it's short term, go cheap. Then when you can afford it--Get HDTV!

It's a short term purchase because I assume I'll want to upgrade to HDTV within the next few years. It's seems a little premature to get a HDTV now.

I was thinking about getting a 32" or 36" conventional, but it doesn't make sense since I'll be replacing it soon.

Once you've gotten used to viewing a flat screen TV, everything else looks like crap. Compared to my Sony Wega, rear projection's look bland and washed out and curved tube's are like watching TV through a fish bowl.

One of the greatest things about flat tubes is that you siginificantly increase the viewing angles. People watching the TV who aren't sitting directly in front of it get a much better view of the screen than over the old fishbowl tubes.

Flat is worth the few extra bucks.
