TV Question: Can I lay a LCD Projection on its side without damaging it?

Im transporting a LCD rear projection and it looks like the only way to do so in my current situation is on its side or at an angle. Its still in the original box and should have enough padding to not physically damage the unit (corners, casing, etc). I am worried about the display.

edit: I guess the TV would really be on its back
