Why don't LCD companies give the wattage of their TV's anymore? I've tried to look up some from Samsung and LG and the only thing I can find is Estimated Yearly Electricity Use (kWh) and Estimated Yearly Operating Cost ($). Is there a way to find the $/kWh and in-use time they use, to determine the wattage?

The EPA ratings are based on 5hrs a day.

OK, so for example, according to this, the Samsung UN32EH5000 32" LED is rated 62 kWh yearly.
1000 * 62kWh/1825hr = 34 watts

Thanks

Here's the reply I got when asking Samsung the wattage of a particular TV:

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

I understand that you would like to know the power consumption of your Tv.

I am glad to assist you with the information.

I would like to inform that all Samsung TVs sold in the US are designed to work with NTSC broadcasting signals and an input voltage of 110/120volts at 60hz. The TV will not work if it receives a PAL or SECAM broadcast signal or an input voltage other than 110/120volts at 60hz.

You can purchase a voltage converter in most retail electronics stores to convert the voltage to 110/120volts at 60hz when using in another country. Additionally, if the country you will be using the TV in does not use the NTSC signal, you need to purchase a converter box to convert that signal to NTSC.

Too bad you don't have access to the TV's themselves. The wattage is printed on the sticker with the other elect. info, UL symbol, etc. LCD's are darned amazing how efficient they are, plasmas not so much. I've got a Panny GT50 that lists its wattage at 492W. Horrible. But great picture. :)

FWIW frys scans the epa stickers on their website. That might be helpful.
