Tv-out woes

I am setting up an htpc and I am having some problems with tv-out. From my main rig, which has a 9500 Pro, the image is absolutely awful. I'm not sure what is causing this distortion, but I'm using the latest drivers and all. I get the same problem from one of my laptops, which has some onboard ATI card. From my new 700m, I get a great picture that is clear and distortion free, but it is black and white. What really matters is the output from the 9500 Pro, as that is what will be used for the htpc. The 700m black and white issues seems to indicate that it's not just a problem with the TV, but the individual cards. In all three cases, I am using an svideo to composite adapter since my TV doesn't have svideo inputs. I did try the 700m on another TV that does have svid inputs and it produced the same black and white problem with the svid to composite adapter, but worked normally just using svid. I've tried switching the adapter and that doesn't seem to have any effect. So, any ideas what's going wrong here, especially with the 9500?

Getting only black and white when going from svid to Composite is common, the pin carrying the color is probably not being reintegrated into the composite, hence the B&W w/ the adapter and color w/o.

The distortion problem i have no clue on, seems like a loose connection?

Are your using the same cable/adapter with the ATi Laptop and the HTPC?

Did you try switching it to ntsc on your settings? Only do this if you have an ntsc compatible tv, what do you have? Switch it to that setting, hope that fixes it!
