TV-out with CCC

I have version 5.4 of the ATI drivers and CCC, and when I set my computer up for dual monitors using the TV as the other monitor, my background on the desktop of the TV streches out way too far, to the same resolution as my monitor. I have my monitor at 1152 x 864 and my TV at 720 x 576. Also, I can't change the background for the TV to anything because when I right click and go to properties, it opens it up on my monitor and not on the TV... and all the settings are for this monitor. Also, when I open up programs from the TV, they open up on my monitor. Is there anyway to get the desktop to be changable so everything on the TV works independently... when I do things on my computer it affects the TV. I had a video running full screen (worked fine) and when I opened FireFox it made the video come out of full screen mode. I want to use my TV for watching videos that I have on my computer, so I made a shortcut to my videos folder on my TV but when I open it up it shows up on my monitor... and when I open the videos up they show up on my monitor and I have to drag it over... I can live with these minor nuisances... but I like understanding how things work and knowing either how to fix this or knowing why it happens and why I can't fix it would be helpful. Thanks to anyone who helps. :D

Do you want to switch between the displays or have them both going at once?

If you want to switch between displays (that's what I do with my projector for watching movies)... go into CCC and then displays manager. You should be able to drag your tv to the main area and then swap them. The tv should be the only device then. Set up the resolution you want and everything in the display manager setup area. You can then save all you settings in the profile area. You can name it "TV" or something.

Then switch the monitor back to the main area and set it up how you want it. Then save this as your "Monitor" profile or something.

By right clicking on the ATI icon in the taskbar you can easily change between profiles. You can even assign hotkeys to switch too.

Hmmm... I haven't tried setting them both on at once and don't know if you can set the resolutions independently and get everything to work... good luck :)
