tv out with 9700 pro

When I want to play videos on my tv using tv out, I seem to get a blank box, what settings do I change? I have got it to work a couple of times, but am not sure what I did.
 
nr1, all quicktime videos do no play on the tv at all, blame apple, quicktime sucks

nr2, enable theater mode in the ati control panel, and enable the tv in the monitor list

nr3, install the latest drivers, they fix a little problem that was with the tv out in theater mode, video was offset to some direction and so on
