argh... so many problems with tv-out!!!

My father has this laptop with a sis630/730 graphics card, with tv-out.
So I told him I could connect the laptop to his TV; so he could use
the laptop as a DVD-player.

We went out and bought the appropriate cable incl. scart adapter, and plugged it in.
Installed the appropriate drivers, changed to TV-mode, and found that
the TV-picture was in black and white only. I've had this same problem with
both my computer and my brothers, no sweat, because the solution
has always been to install TV Tool, which enables me to change the
output from S Video to composite, so I can have colors in the TV-picture.

So I installed TVTool, only to find that it only supported nVidia based
cards! Now how can I get colors on the tv-picture, without having
to buy a brand new hi-fi TV which supports S-Video? Because the
SiS drivers won't let me change from S-Video to composite ;(

Glad I don't have that problem - my lappy has Composite Video out and in ports. I also have a regular DVD player connected to our large TV in the front room. Anyway - if I had your problem, I would look for a PCMCIA card adapter to do that. Check here - there are many to check out:
