I have an ARMADA M700 laptop, when I use the TV-OUT (its an rca, not svideo) to my TV I can see everything (although its a bit fuzzy). But when I start to play a DVD with WinDVD or PowerDVD, I see the player but where the picture is on the TV is just a black screen. The DVD is playing on the laptop's monitor though. Any ideas?

Someone had the same problem in General Hardware but the user had a desktop. Viper suggested to disable hardware acceleration in the media player and it seemed to work. Try using windows medial player and disabling the hardware accel, or those other programs might have the same option.

I have the same problem with my Compaq 6000Z Desktop. I'll try that possible solution out. I was wondering also if you need to have a decoder card installed to view dvds on tv? (my friend had a Creative Drx2 decoder card and used the s-video to push the signal to the tv). BTW, my Compaq has a ATI Radeon 9000 with tv-out (if that helps to solve this problem).
