TV-Out Color Distortion

I have an ATI-rage fury using coposite out to a RF modulator to connect my dvd player to the TV. The color goes in 10 second cycles from good to poor. Is there any idea of what i may need to correct this problem? This seems to happen in both Win ME and Win 2000.

Thanks,

David

This is probably the copy protection scheme (losing signal strength). Also, does your computer have cable in? I've seen something similar when both the tv and the computer are connected to cable (ground loop).

Sounds like Macrovision copy protection giving you that problem. Many RF modulators can't cope with it.

Since you are using ATi take a look at the forums at Rage Underground and search or ask for instructions on how to defeat Macrovision using an older version of the Cinemaster DVD engine (that's what ATi's player uses).

The only other option is to get a TV that you can plug the composite or S-video into directly. You would have the same problem using a stand-alone DVD player, too.
