I am looking for a stand alone TV Out card. Do these exist? I can only find video cards with TV out. The video card in my system is perfectly good, and I do not wish to replace it. However, I want TV out on my system. What is the best way to attack this problem? Can I put two video cards in my system, and switch to the one with TV out when I need it? If so, who makes a good PCI TV out video card.

Thanks

Probably the best approach for your situation would be to get a scan converter. That's a stand-alone box that converts the VGA output of your video card to a TV signal. Should cost under $100. Some people on these forums report good luck with the AverKey imicro. Do a search on the forums for imicro, this has been discussed dozens of times in the past few weeks.

You can put 2 cards in your system, but only the primary card will be of any use for gaming and TV out features. Since you said you have a good card that you want to continue to use, as Workin' said, a scan convertor is your best bet. Another benefit of this route is that with any future video card upgrades, you will not have to buy a card with TV out, so the scan convertor can pay for itself over time.

Hawk,
A DVD decoder will have TV out, BUT it is only capable of TV Out when playing DVD's. You can not display your desktop, or any games using the TV out on a DVD decoder card.
