i'm trying to tv out with my s-video cable to the TV with my ibm t40 laptop, howeveri can't get the TV display to turn on. On the ATI display button in the display properties, it just shows the button as red (not blue like it should be if its connected right), and i cant click it and make it stay clicked. Any ideas?

on laptops i have used in the past i was not able to view divx over the s-video connection .
on the laptop i wold see the video playing but on the tv i would only see a black box.
can you try to play a divx file and a dvd over the s-video connection to see if it works with the t40. (Apple was advertising you could play dvd's over the s-video cable)

bharok, your problem is with the video drivers for video card in your laptop. You need to set the TV output as the primary display in order to see the video on your TV. My laptop (Inspiron 8000 with ATI video) is the same way. I guess it it not so much a problem with the drivers but an issue with them.
