Is there a forum or website out there for finding deals with internet/tv providers? I'm 2 days away from being out of my FIOS contract and I've been googling left and right and I'm struggling to find any good deals on comcast or how to work out a good renewal deal with fios.

any help would be appreciated!

Comcast...cheap?

Uhg. Call up FIOS provider, say you are considering leaving for a better rate. They will probably offer you a deal.

Maybe I should wait till the 13th to call? ( my contract expire on the 12th)
Calling today didn't really get me anywhere. The big thing bout Comcast is there is no contract required so I figured I'd go Comcast for about 3 months and then come back to fios as a new customer

Must be nice to have choices. The only thing better than 1.5mbps DSL around here is Comcast, so... yeah. I don't have cable, though, which helps keep costs down.

Unless you watch a lot of sports, you could just get Netflix and Amazon Prime and drop the TV service.

I did this two years ago and have saved a couple of thousand dollars so far, even after paying $2 an episode for a few shows when I was too impatient to wait for Netflix to get discs or streaming.

You can get FIOS and you are LEAVING it? I would pay anything to have fiber (with actual good speeds) to my house. The thought of being able to have upload higher than 1mb and download faster than 6mb would just blow me away.

Fios wouldnt negotiate with me. Didnt offer me anything.

Switched to TWC for a few months internet only, even gave me a $100 gift card for doing so.

Switched back to Fios when quantum arrived, for a cheaper rate with tv + faster internet than before. Stupid they'd rather you cancel service than give existing customers the new customer rates.

Got off the phone with their Retention dept. Here's what she offered me

I told her I only wanted the double play. Really not interested in the phone service:

Prime TV + 15/5 internet
$79.99 with 2 year commitment
$84.99 without a commitment

Prime TV + 50/25 internet
$89.99 with 2 year commitment
$84.99 without a commitment

With the phone service, it was $10 more per month according to her but I know they used to charge a bunch of taxes and fees. Here are all the fees I paid in last month's bill:

Taxes, Governmental Surcharges and Fees
VA State Sales Tax 2.20
E-911 Tax .75
VA Public Rights-of-Way Use Fee .91
VA Communications Sales Tax 3.40
PEG Grant Fee .83
Federal Universal Service Fee 2.51
Regulatory Recovery Fee - Federal .08

I'm not sure which fees/taxes are for the voice service and which ones aren't.

prime tv + 50/25 internet for $85 with no commitment is a no brainer..... unless that's a typo which it probably is.

I said the same thing, but it looks like he was misquoted. Personally, I would take the 50/25 double play with 2 year commitment. You'll still be saving a good amount of money per month.

What internet speed do you currently have?

Currently have 15/5 and it's been working fine for me honestly. I just do some online gaming and netflix/mlb.tv streaming with it.

If you want to save money get an antenna. I love sports but am sick of paying for cable. Then again, TWC internet is $55 a month. Blech.

Went with the Double Play 15/5 with a 2 year agreement.

Ended up paying $79.99 / month (possibly a $5 discount with verizon connections)

Total (from my rough calculations) will be $131.36 right now. Once I turn in one of my HD boxes, it'll drop to $119.36

it's ok but at least it's one less headache I have to deal with. Now to find a deal on an Ooma box :D

I just do a cancel and reorder, since im on google voice, i have the phone for alarm but dont use incoming calls.

I order mine under my wife's name for friday for my home address, I cancel my wed and return the box friday (local vz office) and they'll ship new router/box if you are doing your own intall..

I lose a day for internet but get 2 year of price protection or whatever new package they got. So far i haven't been screw, every 2 year, i get higher speed, whole house dvr, etc for 89 + tax and recently just got the 250 visa gift card promotion..

Damn, ditch the boxes. I pay $98.98/mo after taxes for 75/35 and PrimeHD with a cableCARD no contract. Stream tv to our pcs and laptops connected to tvs.

Ouch just get a ceton card and you have a free HD cable box. Built a mini ATX system for this purpose.

How does a cableCARD work? Do you get access to the guide or can you dvr anything? DVR is big for me since I'm not home or busy with the kids while my shows are on
