TV-IN and DVD ripping

I really am new to the world of video cards. I have recently purchased a ATI 9800 Pro and I was wondering what I could possibly do with it. I noticed that it came with S-Video cables so I was wondering if I could play my TV through the comp or if the cables were for using a tv for a display. Do I need a different vid. card to be able to record tv onto my comp?

Also, I had the same sort of question about DVD. It would be nice to be able to rip DVDs onto my comp. Any good ways to do this for a newb? Thanks!!!

The graphics card, if it doesn't have "VIVO" capability, can OUTPUT a TV compliant signal, so you can use the TV set, or a TV standard beamer or something similar for bigscreen gaming, movie viewing or whatever.

For TV-in or video-in capability, you either use a PCI TV card, or a graphics card that has the capability onboard. Graphics cards with VIVO have only video-in, while ATi's "All-In-Wonder" cards also have a TV tuner onboard.
