If I were you, I would ask if I can buy the extended warranty instead of the TV and see what the sales person's reaction would be.

couple years ago I baught a 5 inch black and white for $20. Still works like a charm and i use it all the time on my nightstand. I'ts more for convienence(sp), It dosnt take much space and I can catch the local 24 hour news on it (the only reason I still pay for basic cable ^^) or watch leno before sleep. I never did buy batteries for it. If I want movies to go, I use my pocket pc. Its color, stereo, and far smaller.

I had one these once, no idea where it went, probably trash. Measure 5" diagonlly, black n white...... reminds me of those old history channels like "the history of telivision" where they show the first tvs where family sits around a 5" black n white tv

Thats hilarious. I sometimes wonder what would happen if we all were deprived of TV. What the heck would we do then? Ah yes, the internet and Anandtech forums...

Actually: Does anyone know if there are any COLOR TVs in the same price range (i.e. < $20)??? I would definitely be interested if it were so.
