Ok this thing sucks I hate it! So pissed right now because for the last 4-5 days I've been trying to get it to work.

Here's a thread at Rage3d that basically explains the whole story.

If anyone can help me, please give me any suggestions!

Yeah I guess I could get it working but I think I tried everything short of a format (which I don't exactly want to do right now because it doesn't need it).

Using win2k.

Are you using terminal services? Check this Support Page that may help, but I'm guessing that perhaps you have residuals from your previous video card in your registry. Try a registry prune and clean install. Maybe start with the supported driver first.

Probably the easiest way would be a format/reinstall, certainly easier than messing with it for days.

No, I'm using win2k pro and it says on the site that it doesn't include Terminal Services. I had checked around before that too and didn't see anywhere to remove it so I assumed it is only there in server versions.

I'll try a completely clean install of MMC and a different driver tomorrow.

I was probably gonna format if I ever get enough money to get a new 60 gigger hd. :)

Did you install DirectX8 and the DirectX digital video supplement from Microsoft?

Coupel of things.....

One, make sure MMC 7.1 is installed.
Two, make sure DirectX 8 AND the Video Update for it is isntalled.

This usually fixes it, but I found some inconsistancies.

Even though it works flawlessly now for mw in win2k pro,
when I install acertain drivers it messes is up again. One is the DXR3 dvd decoder softawre drivers (ie Hollywood+).

It is very annoying, i used to get this in Win 9x w/ the MMC 2.0's. The way i fixed it is remove everything. Drivers and software, and redo the installation over again. Go to add/remove, and remove both the drivers and the MMC, then go to ssytem's and make sure it's removed there. Check the Registry and remove it there. Then restart, and reinstall everything from scratch. Worked for me, but not sure if it'll work for you. Just my 2 cents.

YES YES YES!

Uninstalled all ATI things and got rid of registry refs then installed the special purpose win2k drivers, install dx 8.0a (just to be safe), install digital capture update (again to be safe), installed MMC 7.1, reboot, works!

Now, let's hope I can install just the ATI dvd player and it will still work. ]

edit: Woohoo it worked after installing the dvd player too. I'm set then. Thanks to all for the suggestions and also thanks to NicColt for the help.
