I have a Sony Progressive-Scan DVD Player, Model: DVP-NS575P , which has Component video output. If I hook my 3 monster cables up to this, and into my Toshiba 27" Stereo TV with Flat Picture Tube, Model: 27AF44....I get audio, but no picture. The picture has lines of fuzz on the screen.

Why am I not able to use the component video output? What exactly is component video output?

are you sure you have the tv on the right video mode?

EDIT: wait, how do you have it connected? you should have 5 cables total. 3 for the component video, and 2 for the audio.

Look at your dvd player's manual to see if there is a way to switch from progressive to interlaced mode, your TV probably doesn't support progressive.

http://tacpservice.toshiba.com...ls/TV/2004/27AF44E.pdf is the manual for my tv. Let me look

The ColorStream inputs on this TV are for use
with devices that output 480i interlaced
signals ONLY. This TV will not accept or
display 480p or 720p progressive scan
signals or 1080i interlaced high-definition
signals. If you connect a high-definition settop
receiver, 480p progressive scan DVD
player, or other similar device to the TV?s
ColorStream inputs, YOU MUST SWITCH
THE DEVICE?S OUTPUT TO 480i INTERLACED
MODE FIRST. Failure to do this will
cause a poor picture or no picture to display.
Yep, no progressive on the TV. Check the DVD player's manual to figure out how to switch to interlaced mode.

I have my S Video going from my digital cable box to my tv. I have the 3 component video lines going from my Sony DVD ( component video out) to my tv's Video 2 in

Knowing this, werk, should I still try to use the component video over the regualr video cables?

Yes, just switch the dvd player to interlace mode.
