I want to buy a stand alone tv card that wont conflict with my voodoo 5 card. I would like to know which ones are the best I've been looking at Pinnacal and wintv. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I've been looking too, but it's near impossible to find a card manufacturer that guarantees good performance in Windows2000. I'm starting to think it was a bad idea buying 2000. 🙁 Of course, what would I do with my 2 dually machines without Win2k? 😀

i tried my wintv on a windows2000 computer once and I had no problems with the win2k drivers from their website

The pinnacle is nice, I use it to capture video and then encode to VCD/SVCD for archiving. I'm not too sure about using it for everyday viewing purposes though. Don't have any experience with the WinTV, instead of buying that card about 2 years ago I went with a knock-off STB TVPCI that performs just as well because it uses the same decoder chip from Phillips.

Thanks for the advice. Im interested in the same thing. But I was concerned with Pinnacle software. My friend swears by Pinnacle. And I was set on buying it but I started reading some reviews and they were getting slammed so I got kinda scared. But I think Im gonna get one any ways. Thanks for your advice.

I have a Hauppage WinTV card.

It could be my machine, because it is a bit of an old clunker, but I find the WinTV extremely unstable. When I am doing more than just watching telly I often get lock ups, and wierd things happening on screen.

It has been a source of hours of frustration.

I would never buy one again.

I have the Pinnacle PCTV PCI and I'm also running Win2K. And...I hate it. PCTV sucks ASS. It's the only thing in my machine that is a POS. It will randomly lock up my machine requiring a power reset. To PCTV's credit the picture quality is great when it does work though. Check out Pinnacle's PCTV forum. You have been warned...

OK, bottom line, which is better?

Hauppage or Pinnacle?

Choose your weapon of destruction 😉
I'm talking for Win2K here 😉
