There shure are alot of TV Card Options out there.

I have a self built Atlon 64, MSI Neo platinum 4, 1 Gig Cosair Ram, LeadTek Nvidia Gforce 6600GT, Win XP Home.

I think I would like to get somthing with a remote, tv tuner, FM tuner, and video/audio RCA in, maybe s-video. Cheaper is better, but If there is a huge jump in quality from spending a little more I might go with that.

I don't have cable, and do not pay for any special service. I'm just looking for strait up TV, with Video/Audio in for my game system, An FM Tuner would be nice too. I think My Geforce card (6600GT) only has video out, right?

Quick Q: Do you have to pay for Digital TV? or is that something the broadcasters are switching over to?

So What would you recommend?

Thanks,

Mongoo

If we're talking analog off-the-air or cable, that KWorld card is a solid choice. It's the latest technology (chip tuner, no tin box), has everything you can have (stereo TV, all standards, FM radio, remote, SVideo/RCA/Audio inputs) - and a rock bottom price to boot.

I went to newegg and see that there are several different Kworld TV cards, most of which look similar to each other with slight changes in price. Anyone know if there are any major differences between the different Kworlds? Also, anyone know if these cards have an AM tuner, cause that's actually what I want more than an FM tuner.

Thanks,

Use the 7131 model as shown in Diogenes' link. In the customer reviews, you might notice a general disappointment with the quality of TV images. That's how it is - standard definition TV image quality does suck, people just don't notice because standard TV set tubes suck even worse. Once you're displaying on a quality monitor, you'll notice.

No, there is no AM tuner on any PCI TV card I'm aware of, ever since the beginning of TV card technology. Distinct radio cards might help, but these are truly rare birds.

If you live in a largish city, you may be able to get over the air (OTA) HDTV analog/digital signals. You will need a HDTV capabale tuner card, which will be more expensive than a regular tv card like Kworld, as well as a decent antennae. You also wont find one with FM radio support.

Check Antennaweb.org for info on signals in your area.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdis...=1230e615141b8706a5094482a8d1db3c&f=45 is also a great place to find people to talk about HD signals in your area.

Oh, digital-over-air cards that also have analog-TV and FM radio support do exist - just not in the US.

I got the card and the quality is generally satisfying, having gone thru some older brooktree chipset based cards in the past. Now, does anyone know if philips 7131 based cards are supported at all in fedore core 4? Googled everywhere and came up with nothing :(
