I dont know much about tuners, but is it possible to record TV from a satelite box to my pc? Will the channel selection that I see on my TV be available on my pc?

A rather obvious answer I?m afraid, but it depends upon your satellite receiver and PC! Some receivers have network and/or USB connections whilst others only have RGB out (SCART). If you have the latter, a better solution is to go for a PCI satellite tuner card for your PC. (You will need an LNB feed which may entail a new unit if the existing one has only a single output.) Have a look at the TechniSat SkyStar 2 series if you live in Europe. This solution allows you to turn your PC into an automatic PVR.

According to the OP's profile location he lives is Texas which means he's talking about either DirecTV or Dish Network. Neither one of these can be hooked directly into your PC via a tuner card. You'll have to hook up the satellite receiver box to a capture card (standard TV card can be used this way) in order to watch satellite programming on your PC. You can have your PC control the satellite reciever if you hook up an IR blaster to have the PC control it that way.
