tv capture cards (tuner and agp)

i currently have all the premium channels with hbo, cinemax, showtime, and so on ordered from my cable company. but to watch them, i have to use a descrambler box from the cable company. can i watch them straight off the tv capture card without the box? or would i need a box? many thanks.

I would guess tha you still need the box. It could be possible to descramble the signal via software, but I would recommend using th box.

thanks for the both responses. i remember from reading somewhere in this forum that it waspossible to have an agp card and a tv tuner both plugged in at the same time without any conflicts. is this true? and if so, how would it work out?

Yes sure you can. TV tuner cards (if not integrated onto the graphics card) usually are PCI cards. The video stream is pushed by the TV card - either into your graphics card's overlay buffer for realtime viewing, or into main memory for other purposes.
