TV Capture Card

My Dell 2005 FPW is going to serve as my TV in college (at least for the first month or so). It has Composite Video in, so I can stream my Xbox through it (I think...), but I'm looking for a decent TV Capture Card.

The Hauppauge 150 is the new budget tuner, correct? How are it's recording features?

Scheduled recording, i was able to game while it was recording TV shows using SAGE TV (tivo like software that works with the PVR150)

I love my PVR250 (same thing, feature wise)

Not much at all. The 150 is just cheaper for them to produce now and has basically replaced the 250. The only issue that i have read about is that the 150 has volume changes every once in a while. Though im not sure exactly what they meant by that. I guess like maybe the volume is erratic on some channels. Then again you know the stations always turn up the volume on commercials sometimes.

the pvr 250 allows u to record to vhs tapes which the 150 doesn't

get the pvr 150..plenty good..

some people with early versions had problems with overly loud
recording levels which could not be reduced to normal levels.

Whilst recording with my PVR250, I can use my PC like normal with minimal speed hit and recording turns out perfect.

I use a program called GBPVR which is ok but I prefer the Hauppage software even if it doesnt like me for some reason.

Scheduled recording is an awesome feature which I dont abuse as much as I should do.

The PVR150 is quite nice, with IQ almost as good as ATI's (you have to watch something like a news ticker to notice), thanks much to being 10-bit. GBPVR is pretty nice, if you're willing to take time to get used to it, but the included software also works well, the interface is just very much designed like a computer media player.

Linux support isn't quite there yet, but close (it can work, but you have to jump through some hoops, ATM--probably won't be an issue by Thanksgiving).

Like Elcs, I need to remember the whole scheduled recording thing, too--still not quite used to it being there.

Didn't the PVR 250 encode onboard so it didn't stress the CPU? I'm assuming the 150 doesn't do this, so if I were recording something, I couldn't be doing anything else.

How is the Leadtek TV2000XP Deluxe TV Tuner in comparison? It appears to be significantly cheaper (1/3 the cost of the PVR 150), I'd assume this one lacks on-board encoding, but other than that, are there any noticable differences between the two?
