I'd like to get a tv capture card to grab shows. I have digital cable (Time Warner). Do any of the cards grab digital cable? Can the digital cable format be grabbed directly?

Nope... TV tuner cards cannot grab the digital cable signal...

However, in my area, the analog signal is still getting sent along with the digital signal... so most TVs still work if you plug the cable directly into it (without the digital cable terminal)... Therefore TV tuners still work, except they are using the analog signal...

Has anyone ever heard of a way to grab the digital cable signal? It would seem a logical way to go about grabbing the content.

I did see a card listed which allows you to tune digital cable, and I think there was a thread about it here a couple of months ago.

The easiest way that I would do that would be to just use the digital cable box and connect it through the vivo port on a video card to capture or what not.

hauppauge has some digital tuner cards.

You can always hook an output from your cable box to a regular tv tuner(analog) or a video card with video in.
