tv capture audio

I am unable to hear or record sound from my tv capture card(pv-bt878p+). the audio hardware needs to support 48khz stereo and audio mix. My onboard audio does not seem to be doing the job(AC97 v2.1), so i'm going in for a sound card. what specs should the sound card have to support these requirements? 16bit, 24bit? memory sample rate? or would any card do?

or, should the onboard sound be doing the job, and there's something wrong with my capture card?

thanks

not sure about your setup but with my tv card you have to take the line out from your sound card to line in on the tv card. I expect you have done this but thought I would post just in case.

On my PC I also had to go into the "mixer" application for the Audigy soundcard and un-Mute the line-in. Creative defaults to disabling / muting some of the inputs on their soundcards.
