tv broken - ideas?

well, damn, i've got a really nice, expensive, panasonic 32 inch tv (crt), and last night it decided to check out. it's got concentric rings of solid color on the screen - red in the center, the green, then blue. wtf? i did a google and couldn't find anything about this problem. anybody got any ideas, and any thoughts on what it will cost me to get it fixed?

thanks,

joe

helped a little - has one reference to the problem i'm seeing - color rings, bullseye pattern. suggests one source of problem but sounds like there could be others. any other thoughts, guys? this tv cost ~1g, i'd hate to have to ditch it!

I had a set I liked a lot , it had the same symptoms , I looked at the website for it , got a cert. repair center near me , went there with set . $30.00 later and it was fixed . Still works today . Repair man showed me a handful of burnt up elec. stuff . He said their worth was like three dollars .

Fate has blessed you with an opportunity to reclaim your freedom from the great satan. Unplug the tv and keep it in the corner. Whenever you get the urge to buy a replacement just plug in the old one and spend half an hour staring at the bullseye. That half hour will be better spent than if you had been watching any of the normal garbage on tv.

Elvis was known to shoot TV's when what was on pissed him off.

yeah, that thought had crossed my mind ... don't think it would hurt my kids to miss out on ugio! if nothing else, i intend to tell the repair shop to keep it for a while ... problem is, the wife is a complete tv junkie, she'd never agree to go without her boob tube. a shame, really, but what are you going to do ... !
