TV/Broadband decision **poll**

So at long last, broadband is just a few weeks away 😀

Right now, I have Charter analog cable ($35/mo) and dialup internet ($20/mo). My ISP provides good service, very few outages, reasonable amount of spam gets through. I'm less happy with Charter cable: their spotty quality (at least with the analog), the many annoying Charter commercials, and the way they give you some channels some of the time, only to block them with infomercials and other crap at others.

Now they're finally running digital out to my neighborhood, which means Pipeline internet. This adds up to $90/month for standard cable, 2mb down/128k up internet.

Meanwhile, my ISP can apparently hook me up with wireless, 512k up/down for $40/month plus $100 one-time for hardware. I've been considering dumping Charter altogether (I've heard the spam is horrendous, plus the potential high-user slowdown, and unannounced outages) for a satellite dish. I don't care about movie channels, so I figure around $30/month.

So what would you do? Dump Charter and go all-wireless, stay with Charter and have no antennas, or a combo? I'd appreciate input from current Charter users, and satellite users.

Thanks for wading through my loooong post 😱
