TV better than the movies lately?

I never used to watch tv but now I find myself impressed by the quality of writing on the airwaves - Weeds, Heroes, Studio 60, and Dexter are all part of my weekly routine now (which sucks, I don't like spending time on the boob tube) but, really - the movies out there suck and these tv shows have interesting plots and mostly well developed characters.. Did shows like lost and the sopranos force the audience to expect more, making tv actually pretty damn good lately?

I agree, movies lately have not been that great... I'm addicted to Prison Break and Weeds though.

a tv show can build up unlike a movie and thats why a lot of these shows work. I'd hate to see something like Weeds put into a couple hours only to be shown once and then made countless sequels of. It works as a tv show and its much easier to write for that way. Its hard taking a concept and condencing it into 2 hours or less.

personally i think the writting on heroes went to crap this week. They started out good but the story went absolutely nowhere this week. they introduced a new character. great just another storyline for them to play 2 minutes of then go to commercial.
