So my CMOY thingy is completely dead now and I need another way to listen to TV audio through headphones.

With the CMOY, my setup was a RCA to 3.5mm male jack to the CMOY, then the headphones connected to the CMOY.

My pc has a line in port on the sound card. Can I connect the RCA to 3.5mm cable to the PC's line in port and then listen to the TV audio that way?

Will I need to configure anything to hear it or will it automatically pump the sound to the headphones/speakers connected to the PC? Will I have to disconnect the cable from the PC when not using the TV so I can hear sound from my PC?

ok, so this works, sort of. I only get sound out of the left side of the headphones.

If i slide the bar to the right, i can hear out of the right headphone but its extremely low. does the same thing through the speakers and even through the front panel port.

nevermind... found that one of the rca ends at the tv wasn't plugged in all the way. not sure how that happened but after i plugged it in all the way, everything worked great.

now i only get sound out of 1 side of the headphones again and I checked all of the cables and they are all in place. Volume controls seem to be set properly also. I don't understand this.

What are my other options that are hopefully more reliable?

bad port ? Audio ports on motherboards go bad quite often. Symptoms are usually one side working or very low output levels. They don't put much protection on the ports, so if you plug the wrong thing in , like connecting video out from tv to the line in on pc it can harm the port.

I have a realtek chipset that allows you to retask jacks , basically letting you use the mic for line in or line out or whatever. Have to do that because my line in port quit.

Since I have so many problems with this, i decided to check my shelf stereo for inputs. It has RCA AUX IN so i found a RCA male to RCA male cable and went from TV to stereo. Then plugged headphones into the stereo.

So hopefully nothing fucks that up.
