TV as monitor question

Im thinking of buying this for my monitor Coby 32" Class LCD 1080p 120hz HDTV, TFTV3247

looks like it might be a good gaming TV with the refresh rate of 120hz and 6ms

any thought would be helpful would i be wasting 200 or would this be a good choice for the price

IM wanting a larger monitor than the 23'' i have now

this will be for playing bf3 and guild wars 2

that is not 120hz like you get on a 120hz monitor. you will only be running games at 60 fps as it will only accept 60hz input. some tvs have more input lag than pc monitors too so the controls could feel a bit sluggish.

For gaming on HDTV i've always percieved plasmas as the best choice. If you are gaming at a desk i'd reccomend you look for <32" and look for true 120hz computer monitor.

60fps is ok But input lag may be a no go thanks for the info how well does that 560se card u have do in bf3 and guild wars 2? would it be worth buying at 119 and sli'ing it later? i cant seem to find a review on the 560se in sli or over ckocked

We hate using TVs as monitor due to their low quality in the area. And we got a Samsung UE55ES7005 TV. My gf actually tried GW2 on the TV instead of her 24" Dell. It was a short gaming time before going back to the monitor.

I dont have either one of those games. it performs almost identical to the gtx460 768mb though but it does have 1gb of vram instead of 768mb. I personally would not get one with the intentions of going sli though.

what does guild wars 2 compair to as far as PC and graphic requirment needs to other games. I pre ordered and havent played it yet would it it be on the same requirement needs as say BF3 to get 60 fps on 1080p settings?

im upgrading my gpu from 8800 gtx to play this and need to know if the 560se would handle it

TV's as monitors are usually a really bad idea, the low resolution of 1080p stretched across often very large sizes like >32" create a very low PPI (Pixels per inch).

Often they have a lot of input lag, remember input lag is different from pixel response time and refresh rate and often simply isn't listen in the manufacturing specs.

The refresh rates are normally not true refresh rates, they tend to duplicate frames to knock a standard 60hz signal up to as much as 600hz, if you're gunning specifically for a true 120hz panel you need to make sure the TV specifically accepts a 120hz signal.

Good question.

We play it in 1920*1200 with max settings and never experience anything bad. I use the rig in my signature. GF uses a i7-860+GTX670+SSD. It just runs fantastic for us. We played stresstests, BWE1-2-3.

An american friend says it runs fine on a GTS450 also in 1920*1200 (With SSD). But I dont think he uses max settings.

I didnt measure FPS tho. You should have told me yesterday doing the stresstest so I could have tried hah.
