Hi, I know you're all pretty good with this stuff. So could someone help me out? I'm looking for a good Video Card + TV Tuner in one. Video capture isn't a big deal to me, but if it comes with it, that's cool. Could someone let me know some good ones? And then aside from that, any hot deals on anything like that? :) thanks

Edit: This will be my video card for gaming as well as TV, so I'd like it to be good. Currently I have a 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000 AGP, along with an AVerMedia TV tuner, but they don't seem to get along. My video cards have been dying quickly for some reason, and I've had to get them replaced again and again. I figure my best bet is to get an all-in-one.

Unless someone knows for sure of a TV tuner that won't kill my Voodoo3 3000? Thanks again

Radeon 64MB All-in-Wonder ought to do the trick for you. It's kind of expensive, tho.

Try looking at the new VoodooTV cards, they came out this month. You can read the specs and a lot of FAQ on there home page, 3dfx. I'm in the market myself and been doing a little research too.

If I had the money, I'd be all over a ATi Radeon 64MB DDR. The best decoding, great speed, and good image quality...heck maybe I'll go "make" some money.

If you wanna spend less though...you could always stay with voodoo, and pick up a V3 3500.

Get the V3 3500...that'll be good for gaming and TV I guess? Or would you suggest I stick with my V3 3000 and get a Vtv 200 to go with it? I'm not sure if the Vtv's are good or not.

The 3500 tv features are not very good. If you go with the new 3dfx tv card, just stick with your 3000

I too had a V3 3000 AGP and Avermedia TV98, and they got along great for over 1 1/2 years. I would look to find out what is causing your troubles before changing cards. There is NO WAY your tuner card KILLED your V3 3000. You will save a lot of money in the long run, if you can keep your current TV card, and just upgrade video cards (without tuner).

As one of the first to get a V3 3000, I have fought and fought with driver issues from day one. 3dfx always blames every other piece of hardware as the cause, and never took responsibility for crappy driver support. Every driver release fixed one thing, and broke 2 more things. Even after 1 1/2 years, the best drivers always seemed to be the ones that came with the card on the CD. Random crashes, lockups, icons distorted, etc.

Just switched to a GeForce2 GTS for $150 (ubid), and it too works great with the Avermedia TV98 card. I don't know why people keep saying how great UT looks with glide compared to others. My new GF2 GTS looks better in UT than the V3 3000 ever did! As a bonus, my 3DMark 2000 scores about doubled to it's current 7000 marks. If you don't want to spend $150 on a GF2 GTS, even a GF2 MX would be a huge improvement over any voodoo card up to the V5 5500, but when competing with a card that costs less than $100, of course 3dfx will make a card that can do better for nearly 3 times the cost.

Okay, Rob...but do you think it's possible my TV card is just defective and that is why it's causing the video cards to die? Or do you really think it has to be something else?

If it's the TV card, I guess I could just get a new TV tuner. Would you suggest the VoodooTV 200, or some ATI tuner?

If it's not the TV card, I could just get a video card upgrade. What's the newest Geforce out there? I'm thinking it's GeForce2 of some kind, not sure what. What's the price range on that?

AIW Radeon has got to be the coolest card out right now that fits your need (not including price of course). And there's no 64 MB AIW.

I would suggest that you get Hauppauge WinTV card, I hear that they have the best image quality especialy when combined with a de-interlacing program you can get here.

I just picked up a TV Card from Hauppauge. Model 401 WinTV-dbx w/ remote, it is sweet! Installation is so easy and the picture is great.
