TV and TV tuner get different amount of channels

They're both coming off the same splitter. But the tv gets over a 100 channels while the tv tuner gets like 10. What gives?
EDIT: The tv tuner also does not get the 'free' HD channels.

I don't understand your question. I thought the tuner cards were standard? I have a TWC system btw.

HD => Digital. The tuner says it gets ClearQAM. So I'm not sure what's going on. :\

probally your cable provider is not streaming the PSID over QAM so the tuner is not detecting the channels. You may have to manual add each open QAM channel.

I am using WMC for Windows 7. How do you manually add channels? When I select manual setup, WMC eventually scans the channels with no input from me.

Select Tasks/settings/TV/Guide/ Add missing channel

the use the info from the silicon dust channel line up

Add DTV Chan/channel #\QAM256\Virtual Channel This where the channel will show up in your channel lineup\Name Save then you need to edit the listing to and scroll the list to find the correct PSID.
