hey guys, im renting a tux for my wedding and i have a question. this small mom and pop shop that i visited fitted me on a nice tux and the rental fee is ~130 + 10(for shoes).

now afterwards, i stopped in a place called after hrs that is renting other tuxes for 60 bucks.

i didnt try anything on since i was already set on the other shop, but now it has me thinking for myself and my groomsmen.

now why such a big price diff?

I don't know about the places you mentioned, but when I was shopping around for tux rentals for my buddy, the cheap places were bad. The "white" shirts had yellow stains in the armpits, the pants were worn out, etc.

It's not something that you pay for often so I'd say to just go with what looks the best.

I have NEVER had a good experience with Smalls/After Hours. That's 5 proms and one tuxedo purchase. They always screw SOMETHING up and leave you holding the bag having to drive to another store or miss your event.

Now, I did have a good experience at Mens WearHouse. That was $100 p/p including shoes and the groom gets his free. I actually own a tux (honestly, that's the best way to do it), but since everyone else needed one, I got a free one from them.

The mom and pop shop will probably have better quality stuff since they don't have a nationwide rental system with thousands upon thousands of suits being worn and cleaned every week.

not sure if you can still cancel the order and get your money back from the mom and pop place, go back to the mom and pop place and tell them that you found a better deal elsewhere and would like to get your deposit back. 9 out of 10 times, they will match it, it would rather make less money than no money. I was able to get Mr. tux (a big tux chain store in NE) to pricematch men's warehouse $69 including everything bridal show special. I was bluffing thou, men's warehouse stuff arent as nice as Mr. Tux selections, but I was OK with that, since I was paying for the rentals, and every less bit helps.
