Tutu: Bush, Blair should face trial at the Hague

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Desmond Tutu called Sunday for Tony Blair and George Bush to face prosecution at the International Criminal Court for their role in the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq

Tutu, the retired Anglican Church's archbishop of South Africa, wrote in an op-ed piece for The Observer newspaper that the ex-leaders of Britain and the United States should be made to "answer for their actions."

The Iraq war "has destabilized and polarized the world to a greater extent than any other conflict in history," wrote Tutu, who was awarded the Nobel prize in 1984.

"Those responsible for this suffering and loss of life should be treading the same path as some of their African and Asian peers who have been made to answer for their actions in the Hague," he added.

LOL!

Why should we take advice from a supporter of terror and a racist?

Tutu should just STFU and worry about his own sins and try to bring peace to his own country. That would be nice.

Hyperbole.

Tutu joins in with many other people in saying the same thing. The real question is, will any credible international court issue formal charges?

As it is, even with far more clear cut cases of international war crimes, it takes an average of 15 years for courts to act.

Like you, he has opinions and advise for people who live in other countries than his own. So if you want to be consistent with your own advise, shut the fuck up.

Maybe they should! It is something to think about. Maybe the president of France should also be charged for supporting Sadam and building his death chambers of torture.

I would like to say that this is a kind of slippery slope.

You could look at WWII and ponder whether we should have come to the aid of Churchill and England earlier, then Germany may have been better protected and the USA would have been better prepared to go to war.

But history did not play out that way. It is so hard to second guess some of our historical actions.

This is why Presidents should not be able to move troops into another country without the full approval of Congress and a Declaration of WAR. This is also why we need to pull all our troops out of other foreign countries after a war is ended. There is no real reason why we should have troops in Europe and Asia and South America or anywhere else.

Dumbass hicks living in Buttfuck, Texas, may not care. The rest of the world does. I'd pay the airfare to the Hague to see Bush, Cheney, and rest of that clusterfuck on trial.

The thing is Congress passed the legislation to support the Iraq War before we went to war. So everyone in congress who voted for the funding for that war would also have the same resposibility and have to be endicted also. Place the blame where it belongs.
