I built a new system over 6 months ago that included Win 98 SE, the Epox 8k7a motherboard, and the Santa Cruz. I recently tried to reinstall the sound drivers (as directed from the Voyetra website) and now all of a sudden i can't get it to work. After i uninstall everything Turtle Beach from my system (including registry entries), i reboot, it detects the sound card, i cancel through that (as it says to do from the latest driver readme file), i run the the setup program, drivers seem to install smoothly, reboot, no sound and no error message. When i go into Device Manager, however, a "PCI Multimedia Audio Device" appears in the Other section saying no driver's are installed for it. I have tried about a dozen times and every time i reboot after the drivers have finished installing, i get the "PCI Multimedia Audio Device" appearing in the Other section of Device Manager.

There is nothing running in the background other thatn Systray and Explorer when i install the drivers. Also, there doesn't seem to be any conflicts in IRQ, Memory, etc. Bear in mind, it had been working flawlessly for 6 months. Anyone got some ideas?

This is just a WAG, but did you d/l the driver? If so, is it possible the d/l is corrupted? Try d/l'in the driver update again and see if that fixes it. Also, can you install the drivers from the original CD that came w/the card?

Have you toggled through the Santa Cruz Control Panel to change the sound output options at all?
I had my headphones plugged into the Versa Jack and had no sound. I right clicked the Volume Icon on the Desktop, selected SC Control Panel and changed the options for sound output on the Main tab by changing the Speaker Option to what i required.

Hope this helps :)

Make sure you unplug your internet when you reboot. I found (atleast for XP anyway) that when you go back into Windows it detects and installs its own drivers before I got a change to run the setup again.

Jeff - Yes, i tried both the one of the Voyetra website and the one off the original CD, neither work.

rockhard - I can't get into the Santa Cruz Control Panel because it says it doesn't detect a Santa Cruz card installed. (even though the drivers seem to install just fine)

powaking - Yeah, i tried that too...still no luck.

Yep, they were the right ones. I actually tried installing from the original CD as well and no luck. I ended up reinstalling Win98 SE and that fixed the problem.

This sort of thing usually happens to me when it's not the first time to install a driver for a hardware.
I usually just point the windows where to look for the driver file..
