Hi, I have a Turtle Beach Montego II that I received with a deal package a few years ago, but I built a new system last year, and threw the TBM2 sound card in, and everything worked fine for a year.

However, I upgraded to Windows XP this month (from Windows 2000) and I am having sound card issues. The sound will cut out randomly and when I try to play an .mp3 in WinAmp, the file won't even open, it just sits there. The system system then has to be rebooted to work again. Sometimes its days between times it cuts out, sometimes it'll cut out twice in the span of 20 minutes. I went through the even viewer in the Admin Tools, and found I was having IRQ errors with the sound card, so I set up the sound card to have its own IRQ number, and everything seemed to work fine after that. For a week. Then the problems started back up. I went back to Windows 2000, thinking that it was an XP problem, because the card always worked with the 2000 OS. However, this time around, it didn't work. The sound still cuts out randomly, only this time I'm not getting any IRQ errors in the Event Viewer. In fact, I'm not getting any errors at all.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what's up with this, and is it fixable?

I'd like to know that it is in fact a problem with the sound card itself before I go out and buy a new one.

Thanks in advance for help,
Matthew

Change the pci slot it is in, it's conflicting with something else it appears.
