The people were gathered to watch the football tournament (Soccer) and just the threat of a possible terrorist attack or bomb caused the crowd feel the need to all escape the area they were in which was a large square like you often see in Italian towns. Some people were literally trampled upon trying to escape from just a bomb scare. There was no bomb at all.
Guess what hurt the most people?
It was glass beer bottles.
In the USA at large gatherings like this most localities do not allow the use of bottled beer out of safety concerns. Is Europe really that enlightened a place after all?
