You didn't mention what mobo, but yeh, some bioses automatically adjust the pci divider depending on the fsb- many components become kinda cranky if the pci speed is too high.
The jumper settings for the ASUS P3V133 are such that the PCI divider is 1/3 up to 133, and a 1/4 PCI divider for 133, 140 and 150MHz FSB speeds. There are 2 settings available for 133MHz FSB.
You will quite likely kill your PCI devices if you choose a PCI speed like 44MHz available with the first 133MHz FSB setting, let alone any higher PCI bus speeds if the 135MHz FSB had a 1/3 PCI divider.
