Turning off write protection of USB based readers?

A nagging problem that's driving me crazy. I have two SD card reader/writers on my main PC and neither will let me write to the SD card (no formatting, no erasing files, no moving files, etc). Both state that the SD card is write protected. However, the card is not write protected and works fine on a SD reader/writer on another PC.

Any clue? Any Windows setting?

I've tried for almost a month...no luck...

I had the an identical problem... SD card would not let me write, delete, etc... nothing. Said the card was write protected... tried two different PC's (one had internal SD slot, one had an external card reader).

Finally, I tried a Bonzai card and it wrote, etc. just fine.

Try a different card reader.

Forgot to mention, I tried all the other tricks - tape over the lock switch, going into DOS... none of that worked.

Got the other card reader and it started working...

Works fine upstairs on the other reader. Neither reader on the main PC work for writing. They worked at on time but both suddenly stopped. There's got to be a WinXP setting somewhere....darnit!
