I was wondering if there was a way that i can turn off the LED's on my fans without turning off the fans, or at least being able to turn the fans off through some program through the computer, i don't really want to put any switches on my case, Thanks

wait,
do you mean you have LED fans but dont want the LED's on?
The best thing to do is get non-led fans. If you still want the fans to light up but not have LED's, go for UV reactive fans. You would need UV lighting though. A switch is easy to mount. To keep a switch out of sight just mount it on the rear of the case.

haha, sorry i should have specified, i like the lights, i just want them off at night so my room isn't so bright, it's hard to sleep, and i would like to find a way without mounting a switch, otherwise i will just have to figure something out
thanks anyways

I would imagine it could be done... the leds have to get power somewhere and I'm sure you could insert a switch. However, the things you can do, and the things that wouldn't drive you nuts trying to do are two different catagories. I personally don't know how hard it would be... but I would be willing to bet it would be a royal PITA.

Darn tootin a royal pain in the ass.
You would first have to take apart the fan assembly and disconnect the leds and the re-wire them to run off the power supply then put the fans back together while praying they still work afterwards...

Best bet is to ditch the led fans, get UV fans and UV cathodes.
Regardless you will need a switch to turn anything off and on without frying the peices in question by simply yanking the power plug.

A rather simple option if you dont want to see the fans on at night is to, gasp, turn the computer off, lol. Either that or just cut out a peice of something to fit over whatever window or opening the leds are located at. if you have a case door window, cut out a peice of abs plastic or something and cover it up.

Ripping apart the fans to try and find the correct way to turn off the LEDs while leaving the fan running would be a serious PITA, at best. And I don't see how you can do it when I look at my LED fans. The only solution I can think of other than shutting the computer off is a switch. You can get something like a SunBeam rheobus and use that to turn the fans off at night all together. More likely than not the cooling isn't needed for an idle computer.

do you need that uber cooling at night? i find led fans when on a fan speed controller dim quite a bit, and even at levels where theres still reasonable airflow. if you want light on demand fans, thats what UV fans + UV cathode are for.
