How in the name of all that is holy do you turn off the horrible context-sensitive appearing toolbars in OpenOffice.org?

If anyone's involved in the project, they wouldn't be nearly as annoying if you could configure them to automatically appear in a vertical (rather than horizontal) orientation, so they could appear in the margins of what you're working on.

Wasawasa?

Could you post a part of a screenshot of what your complaining about? I am not sure.

Maybe we are using different versions of OpenOffice.org? I am using 2.2.1, if your using 1.x stuff the 2.x stuff is a huge improvement.

You can activate/deactivate toolbars by going through the view-->toolbar menu.

To put the tool bars on the side vertically rather then on the top horizontally you can move the mouse all the way over the left were there is a little 'grabby' icon, and you can click and drag it to the side.

If that's not what the problem is then I don't know. Maybe try the oo.org forums.
