Turning of multi thread..how?

Does anyone know how to make windows run on single thread only? I've read somewhere that you can edit the 'boot.ini'? perhaps.

This is my last resort since my Abit AN8 isn't happy with my 3800x2, and Abit refuse to post a new bios fix.

Thanks!

The boot.ini switch /Numproc= will cause windows to ignore additional CPUs if you want.

As for making Windows run single threaded even on a single CPU box - NOT possible.

A. Not possible, though as mentioned above you can disable a core.

B. Why in God's name would you want to, even if you could? If Windows were running on a single thread performance would slow to something on the order of: click mouse, eat pizza, accept dialog. This is because Windows creates literally dozens of threads that wait on events to occur.
