Turning an XBox On/Off remotely?

I want to be able to turn on and off my XBox when I'm not in the same room as it is. I found this tutotial over at xbox-scene and it looks interesting:

Just wondering if anyone has done this or anything else that allows them to turn it on/off when you're not in the same room.

hire a midget to stand next to it and rig a bell you can ring from anywhere in the house, and when you ring it he turns the xbox on/off

Glad there's so many quick responses.... Too bad none of them have been useful.

Although I do like the midget idea. Wife is due in August so we could train the baby starting early...

that tutorial looks very feasible. I haven't done it myself, but it doesn't look too bad to do.

just enable wake on lan in BIOS

You can shut it down via FTP from pretty much anywhere but turning it on is a totally different story. I shut down and reload mine via FTP pretty often.

I can shut it down fine using the new setup I have on there It's mainly turning it back on that I need to do. And of course turning it off when something locks up.
